Romania (Romanian: România ) is a country in Eastern Europe. Romania is bordered by Ukraine and Moldova in the northeast; Hungary in the west; Serbia and Bulgaria to the south along the Danube River. Romania has a stretch of sea coast on the Black Sea and the eastern and southern Carpathian Mountains run through its centre.

Local time

Romania Time is in the Eastern European Time Zone . Eastern European Standard Time ( EET ) is 2 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time ( GMT+2 ). Like most states in Europe, Summer (Daylight-Saving) Time is observed in Romania Time, where the time is shifted forward by 1 hour; 3 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time ( GMT+3 ). After the summer months the time in Romania Time is shifted back by 1 hour to Eastern European Time (EET) or (GMT+2)

Money and Banking

Local currency: The Romanian Leu (code RON ) is the official currency in Romania. It is subdivided into 100 bani. The word "bani" is also used for "money" in the Romanian language . Changing money: All major credit cards are accepted. ATMs are readily available in the town. You may exchange cash (preferably Euro, English pounds, or US dollars) in all the banks (open 9.00 – 17.00), exchange offices (some of them open 24h) or ATM. Please note that in most small shops and at the local market, only cash payments are accepted.

Telephone, electricity

The international code for Romania is 40; in order to make an international call from Romania you must dial 00 followed by the country code and number. Romania is well covered by mobile phone operators (the main ones are Orange and Vodafone) and if you come from Europe you will be able to use your mobile phone. Electricity: 230 V, 50Hz. Standard 2-pin European plugs are used in Romania.

Weather

Băile Govora: Moderate continental hillside climate with slight Mediterranean influence: cool summers (July average temperature 19°C) and mild winters (January average -3°C); moderate precipitation (800 mm annually) and infrequent winds.
