Heat and Water Management for PEM fuel cell systems - OPTIM-PEMFC

Heat and Water Management for PEM fuel cell systems, OPTIM-PEMFC

Finance Agreement no 189/20.07.2006

The project Heat and Water Management for PEM fuel cell systems, OPTIM-PEMFC, propose a peculiar interest subject on international plane: the hydrogen like an energy conversion source and its applications for fuel cells, the main goal being the romanian research integration in european priorities of European Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Technology Platform. Over the last decade, Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cells have emerged as viable energy conversion devices for terrestrial applications (stationary and mobile). Fuel cell technology offers huge economical and environmental potentials, but they are still more expensive than most conventional power conversion devices. As a result of current trends from energy sistems domain, there is a ned to optimise these technologies both performance and costs point of view. The present project proposal consider that developing, testing and validating a computational model and algorithm package capable to solve all the challenges regarding heat and water management for PEM fuel cell systems could lead to optimisation of these technologies.
