Department of research-development and technological transfer
This department is structured in many laboratories, each of them has a specific domain of activity.
Activity domains:
- Physical Science of Isotopes with separation and production technologies, methods of analysis and more other domains, like:
- researches regarding getting of O18 separation using distillation process;
- optimizing of heavy water separation;
- technology of vacuum separation for depleted water production (low level deuterium);
- monitoring and investigation of hydrological areas using isotopic technologies methods (GIS);
- determination of the age using tritium and C14;
- development of deuterium separation technologies getted in gas phase;
- analytical measurements for determination of isotopic concentration.
- Hydrogen study and associated processes:
- computational methods in gas dynamics;
- study of hydrogen isotopes permeability in Pd composite structures;
- theoretical analysis and hydrogen process simulations using catalytic reforming;
- methods and equipments for isotopic analysis;
- expansion of fuel cells using hydrogen;
- absorbents, composite materials and analysis techniques;
- vacuum physics, equipments;
- mass spectrometry;
- environment protection;
- IR spectrometry;
- heavy water concentration measurement;

Pilot plant for tritium and deuterium separation
The main purpose consist in elaboration of tritium separation technique from heavy water used in moderator of CANDU nuclear reactor and equipments inspection which are used in cryogenic and tritium domain.
Implementation of this objective is assured by transformation of pilot plant into a nuclear unity according with CNCAN proposal and observance of protection degree for work stuff.
In same time, in this pilot plant are maked tests and experiments on technological modules and dynamic equipments, simulation of technological process using LabView program and testing of measuring and checking instruments.
Also, it is followed determination of chemical tracers for water processing and tritium contents measuring in water test using liquid scintillation method.
Other competitive domains are:
- hydrogen isotopes separation using catalyst isotopic exchange and cryogenic distillation;
- hydrogen storage systems and hydrogen isotopes;
- helium use in cryogenic laboratory - low and very low temperatures laboratory (4-77 K).

Experimental plants and technological transfer applications/Gas production and services (SSETT)

The specific competence domain is scientific research for development of new technologies and produces.
Important achievement:
- investigations concerning to the produced effect by deuterium - depleted water on animals in normal and pathological conditions;
- use of B7 ordinate filler in mass and heat exchange system on gas-liquid;
- plants evaluation from ROMAG PROD Drobeta Turnu Severin;
- deuterium - pure depleted water from microbiological point of view with 20-120 ppm D/D+H;
- techniques and equipments for gas and high pure gas mixtures production for technique applications, analytics instrumentation and food industry;
- gases and heavy water analysis using analytical instrumentation which has RENAR certification;
- ordinate filler activation/reactivation from CNE-INVEST Cernavoda (CANDU nuclear reactor);
- engineering services and computer simulations of isotopic separations and implementation of heavy water upgrading system from CNE PROD Cernavoda;
- studies concerning to improvement of isotopic separation process for getting a high pure derivate product (O16,O17 and O18);
- investigation services concerning to reactor from CNE Cernavoda; D2O upgrading system;
- getting of AQUA VITAL 85 product;
- derivate products from deuterium - depleted water with a deuterium concentration between 100-110 ppm D/(D+H);
